Let’s be honest. Johnny Depp is the sexiest, handsomest man in the world especially during his younger years when he first started to make appearances in films such as Platoon, Private Resort, tv series: 21 Jump Street, etc. It is most likely because of this very reason that most people admire/love Johnny. I mean who could resist such a beautiful creation! Even now at the age of 48, he is still as wonderful looking as ever.
For me, it wasn’t until Pirates of the Caribbean 1 came out that I began to fall for his charm. In this film, I couldn’t really see his true face and beauty, but I fell because of the amazing character that he had created. He made Captain Jack Sparrow very interesting, unique and funny. After watching this movie, I fell in love with Johnny Depp. I wanted to be Captain Jack Sparrow because he was so slick with everything that he did. He pretty much got away with everything! And the way he did it was so smooth.
This little fling only lasted for a little while though and then I went on to other things and my interest wasn’t as great. Only due to personal issues, etc. But then I watched Alice in Wonderland and then of course POTC 4 and I knew instantly that that was it. I was hooked. I am now 100% obsessed with Johnny Depp.
Now all I do is watch Johnny’s movies and if I really liked the film, then I’d watch it repeatedly. I’d research anything and everything about him, watch/read interviews to sort of understand his views on everything, and I’d go on tumblr to see what everyone else posts about him (mainly pictures). I’ve unconsciously given myself a routine when watching one of his films.
- Research and gather some background knowledge of the film to get a better understanding of it and to see what I’m about to indulge myself into.
- Watch the film.
- Watch/read interviews of Johnny on the film I had just seen.
Not only does this help me understand the story and what had happened better, but it also gives me perspective of Johnny’s motivations with the character and why he did what he did in certain scenes.
I think what makes Johnny so special and outstanding from other actors is his motivations and his intentions and his approach to everything. How he acts, how he reacts to things, and his view on life. His perspective differentiates himself from everyone in the world even. Johnny Depp just has this charm that could make anyone fall for him and I’m not just talking about his looks. He has such a kind and gentle heart. But what I find most important is his view on his career as an actor. He isn’t your typical actor. He actually really goes deep with the character that he is about to portray and he does his research well. He takes this job that he sort of had to take because he needed something to support himself and he went beyond with it. It ended up being his career because not only was he great at it, but he turned it into art. He just sort of creates new things and experiments to make it an original piece and make it as realistic as possible.
What I love the most is that he always thinks the best of people and his characters. Despite what they’ve done/do, he always points out the best things about them. For example, George Jung, from the movie Blow, was a huge cocaine dealer. He helped smuggle drugs into the states and was constantly drugged out even with a daughter and wife to tend to. In Johnny’s interview, he says something along the lines of “George is a good guy who was just misunderstood. He just so happened to get caught up in a few situations and just got stuck there”. (Not exact words by the way lol) Johnny also embraces individuality and gives the impression that it’s okay to be different and weird. I think that it’s really important to express yourself and to be just you without having the pressures of others breathing down your neck because you aren’t doing what they’re doing or because you’re too weird for their likings. Honestly, who cares what others think. Do you. And that’s all that should matter.
Overall, Johnny Depp is perfect in every way. I admire him for who he is and not at all for his fame, fortunes, or looks. If Johnny weren’t as famous or rich as he is today, I would still feel the same way that I do now. I’d say that I’m a true “Depphead” if you may who has Johnny’s back 150% all the way. <3
